Ambolley Explains Why He Hasn’t Done Any Collaborations With Younger Artists

Legendary Ghanaian highlife musician, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley has opened up on why he hasn’t done any collaborations with any of the younger artists.

According to the veteran musician, majority of the current crop of artists do not meet his standards and that is something he will never compromise no matter the amount of money involved.

For him, music isn’t all about trends and getting their song to become a hit immediately and that he believes music must have a positive impact on listeners.

He made these comments in a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz where he said the current crop of artists only focus on “sharp sharp” music although he also acknowledges that there are a few exceptional ones he will consider working with.

“I’m our time, we learned what music really was and the rudiments of music composition, arrangement and all other elements that make good music. That is not available to the young ones lately.

“All they do is to depend on the computer and after that give themselves all kinds of titles” he said.

He went on to add that, “there are a few exceptional ones who have the potential to make a significant impact on our music scene and these are the ones I will not hesitate to work with.”
