Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu Biography

Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu is an experienced Ghanaian politician and urban planner. He is one of the longest serving members of parliament in Ghana and currently acts as the Majority leader of parliament.

He was born on February 3, 1957 in Bremang-Afrancho, a town in Kumasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana. Kyei Mensah Bonsu obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 1982.

He is a member of the New Patriotic Party and became the MP for Suame constituency in 1997. He has since retained the seat in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th parliament of the 4th Republic of Ghana.

Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu also acts as the Minister for Parliamentary affairs since 2017. Before becoming Majority leader, he has served as Deputy Majority Whip, Majority Chief whip, Dep. Majority leader and Minority leader of parliament.

Kyei Mensah Bonsu is the Chairperson of Special budget, House and Business Committees of parliament. He is also a member of the Standing orders, Finance, Mines and Energy and Committee of Selection committees.

He is married with eight children
