There are over 200 senior high schools in Ghana providing secondary education to BECE graduates in the country. And these senior high schools have been put into three groups ie. All boys, all girls and mixed sex schools.

Wesley Girls Senior High
Is arguably one of the best if not the best girls senior high school in Ghana. It was established in 1836 in Kakumdo, Cape Coast and was named after the founder of Methodism, John Wesley.
Wesley Girls was ranked as the 68th Best high school in Africa by Almanac in 2003 taking into consideration student engagement, quality of education, school profile, Internet, news visibility, etc. Wesley girls has produced a number of notable alumni over the years.
Aburi Girls Senior High School
Eastern regions very own, Aburi Girls is a dream school for a lot of girls in Ghana and rightly so. It is one of the reputable senior high school in Ghana established in 1946.
It is an all girls Presbyterian senior high school located south of Aburi in the Eastern Region of Ghana and is sometimes called “Abugiss”.
Accra Girls Senior High School
Located in the heart of Accra not too long from the 37 military hospital, Accra Girls is one of the top schools as well although some rival schools wouldn’t want to admit that.
It was founded in September 1960 and runs both day and boarding schools. They offer business, home economics, visual arts, general arts and general science.
Ola Girls Senior High School
Our Lady of Apostles Girls Senior High School, popularly known as Ola Girls is located in Ho in th Volta region of Ghana. It was established in 1954 by Bishop Anthony Konings.
Their couple school is Bishop Herman College, an all boys senior high school.
Krobo Girls Senior High School
Founded in 1927 in Odumasi Krobo in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Krobo Girls is one of the sought after girls senior high schools is Ghana. It is a Presbyterian mission school founded by Scottish Missionaries.
Holy Child Senior High School
Holy Child School is an all girls school in the Central region of Ghana and is one of the respected senior high schools in Ghana because of its academic excellence and high moral standards.
It was established in 1946 by Society of the Holy Child Jesus and has gone on to produce a number of notable alumni like Akosua Agyapong, Joyce Bamford Addo, Kokui Selormey, Mary Spio, Anna Bossman, etc.
Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School
Mfantsiman Girls was founded in 1960 by the first president of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The school was initially called Saltpond Girls Secondary School but has since been changed to its current name.
It is popularly known as “Syte” and uses the motto “Obra Nye Woarbo”. Notable alumni of the school include Samira Bawumia, Matilda Amissah-Arthur, Gifty Anti, Caroline Sampson, Jennifer Lartey, etc.
St. Rose’s Senior High School
St. Rose’s is an all girls senior high school located in Akwatia in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It was established by the Dominican Sisters in 1965. Their sister school is St. Peter’s Boys Senior High School, an all boys school in the same region.
Notable alumni of the school include Marrietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, Francisca Oteng Mensah, Patricia Obo-Nai, etc.
Archbishop Porter Girls Secondary School
Archbishop Porter Girls was established in 1965 in Takoradi on a hill in Fijai in the Western region of Ghana. It was established in 1965 by Rev. Kodjo Amissah as St. Louis Secondary School until it was later changed to its current name.
Notable alumni of the school include Bridget Otoo, Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Joselyn Dumas, Yvonne Nduom, Zita Okaikoi etc.
St. Mary’s Senior High School
St.Marys is an all female girls senior high school located in Korle Gonno in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It was established in 1950 by the Catholic Missionary sisters, Servants of the Holy Spirit.
