PayPal Holdings, Inc. is an American multinational financial technology company operating an online payments system in the majority of countries that support online money transfers, and serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods such as checks and money orders.

With PayPal, you enjoy higher exchange rates as compared to others. Unfortunately, Ghana and Nigeria were blacklisted by PayPal in 2004 due to the increase in credit card fraud mostly on eBay and Amazon online stores.

Nigeria however managed to get out of the blacklist in 2014 but Ghana still remains on the list. What this blacklist means is that Ghanaians cannot purchase and pay for goods and services with PayPal online.

Although PayPal is not available in Ghana, you can still create an account in Ghana as a Non-Ghanaian but resident in Ghana. It is also possible for a Ghanaian to create a PayPal account in Ghana.

This is so because PayPal only verifies your account with email address and not your phone number, location/country. So what this means is that you can use a different country’s phone number and address to register an account.

However, to be able to make payments or receive payments, there are certain things you need. You need a bank that will get you either a debit, credit or Master card so you can link your PayPal to your bank account.
