VGMA23: King Promise Beats Black Sherif To Win “Album of The Year”

Ghanaian highlife and afrobeats singer, George Bortey Newman, popularly known as King Promise beats Black Sherif and others to win Album of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards on Saturday May, 6, 2023.

The win is actually his second on the night and did that by beating the likes of Black Sherif’s “The Villain I Never Was,” Sarkodie’s “Jamz”, Kwesi Arthur’s “Son of Jacob”, Joe Mettle’s “The Kadosh” and Gyakie’s My Diary.

Although a lot of fans were of the view that Black Sherif “The Villain I Never Was” deserved the album of the year, it was King Promise’s “5 Star Album that was adjudged Album of the Year at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards that took place on Saturday night at the Grand Arena, AICC.
