George Cooper is a respected former law professor and the husband of renowned writer, Judy Blume. He later became a non-fiction writer after his time as a professor at Columbia University came to an end.
Judy Blume has been married to the former law professor for over thirty years now. Although he may not be as famous as Judy Blume, Cooper has also been quite successful as a writer.
His longstanding marriage to his award-winning wife has increased his popularity but was unfortunately diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2021 which was made public by Blume in June of that year.

According to her, she only noticed the symptoms for the first time one night when she tried to cuddle with him. “it was date night when I came close for a cuddle and saw he had turned yellow. I mean seriously yellow. His face, his chest and arms, even the whites of his eyes.”
“I called our local doctor and all the time, George kept saying, ‘Tell him I’ll come on Monday.’ The doctor asked to speak to him and told him this four be life-threatening and that he had to go to the ER (emergency room) right away. That got George’s attention.”
“He had no fever. No symptoms other than painless jaundice, an expression we would hear a lot in the coming days,” she revealed.
Further tests later revealed that he was suffering from pancreatic cancer.
They have been married since June 6, 1987. But before that, she was previously married twice. She was first married to lawyer John M. Blume from August 15, 1959, till they divorced in 1975 which brought an end to 16 years of marriage.
Their marriage produced two children named Randy Lee Blume (1961) and Lawrence Andrew Blume (1963).
She married for the second time, this time to a physicist named Thomas A. Kitchens in 1976 and divorced in 1978.
How Did Judy Blume Meet Her Husband?
Blume was first introduced to her husband, George Cooper by a mutual friend a few years after her divorce from Kitchens. They became husband and wife in 1987 and have been together till date.
