Multiple awards winning Ghanaian rapper, Okyeame Kwame has opened up about his parents initial disapproval of his marriage to his wife Annica and went on to say that, we do not necessarily need the blessing of our parents when getting married.
The rapper who is adored by many has caused a bit of stir online with his recent comments and this very one has raised a few eyebrows as well.
He made these comments in a recent interview on Angel FM and has since made headlines on a lot of news portals.

According to him, his parents were initially against his relationship with his then girlfriend, now wife because she is a Jehovah’s Witness and his parents did not want that.
“My parents never agreed to our marriage. We were going to play a show in kumasi, we lived in kumasi but we were playing a show in Accra when we got to Nkawkaw, my wife, by then she as working in a law firm, was like, ‘ Okyeame, do you know that in Ghana we have three key elements in marriage?
We have an ordinance, customary, Mohammedan and another one I don’t remember. So the people who don’t support our marriage, will they come and live with us? Then I said no.
Right after that, we went to register the marriage at KMA”, he revealed.
He later went on to explain that, their families were against their marriage because of religion although they loved each other.
“Both families loved each other but because of religion, they didn’t agree.”
He added that, he only told his mother about their marriage a night before the ceremony.
“Since we won’t love together, why would I marry a lady she wants and not what I want? He asked.

He then raised a few eyebrows with his response to the question of whether he didn’t want the blessings of his parents before getting married.
“What will I do with her blessing? It’s God who blesses us not humans. My mother who will leave soon will choose a lady for me and then die the the girl will misbehave towards me?
Am I not a fool?” he asked.
